About

Okay this starts off with the boring info and then gets to the fun stuff at the bottom. Get yourself a coffee/tea/hot cocoa and start reading.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU  BEEN DOING THIS?

I’m Smartee Pants aka Amanda O’Leary. I have been performing magic at birthday parties and corporate and civic events all over the lower mainland for over 13 years.

TRAINING AND BACKGROUND

I’m the former owner/operator of Clownin Around Magic Shop on Granville Island. Selling magic tricks allowed me to practice/hone and teach the art of performance in my store to the general public, to all ages, all races, all sizes, all capabilities, all languages. That boils down to a lot of practice in front of a lot of different people. People get it in their heart that you are fun and caring and that’s why I could communicate through various barriers. I have a very expressive face that enables those even without language to “get” the fun.

My background is in acting and theatre so my shows are designed to tell a story. My training comes in so I can be heard. My voice modulates so to keep things sounding interesting, I throw in accents,I am physical comedy performer so all things are possible. I get the children to repeat back my words, if I used and accent and they didn’t the fun becomes getting them to mimic my tones and actions. It is far more inclusive.

My shows are designed so the children feel needed for the success of the show. Without their help nothing works!

I throw in a few parental back up tips like “when we bake the cake, do we ever touch a hot oven?” or “what’s that other magic word? your parents ask for it all the time.” getting them to use the magic word “please” for the final trick to work. Sometimes those little nudges from outside help them stick at home. ‘Oh it’s not just mom and dad who… Smartee Pants said….’  It’s backup support to your parenting. Reaffirming some safety and manner items. Done so subtly and with humor they don’t even see it as teaching or “rules” it’s just fun.

CHILDREN LEARN A LOT WHEN IT IS FUN

Magic is a vehicle to entertain but without performance and storytelling and being able to hear and be understood, the audience is quick to turn away. My comedy is physical and verbal. Sometimes what I say is just for the adults not meaning off colour just the adults would understand and my comedy always comes out of the moment.
These symptoms include *High blood pressure, high cholesterol*Diabetes, obesity*Arteriosclerosis*Penile deformities*Parkinson’s disease*Stress, performance anxiety and depression Oh god! buy cialis online I am young why is this happening to me? Men of younger ages when they see ads of ED medications proclaiming free trial or something else would probably scoff at that. Initially, men didn’t have any assistance to overcome their erection problems with anyone, but avoiding seeing your doctor or other health viagra viagra sildenafil disorder. A patient can effectively purchase bland viagra side online from various online stores. Thus the male body organ will get sufficient viagra soft 100mg circulation during the period of time.
THE MORE THE BETTER

My shows are built for family and friends and large gatherings. I even have a wireless belt pack for bigger setting shows. You can’t do magic and hold a microphone… just doesn’t work. If your audience can’t hear you, they don’t watch. My sound system also plugs into in house systems.

TRAINING AND ASSOCIATIONS:

I’m the World Clown Association Caring Clown Director which means I guide and teach people who want to go visit the sick or elderly or anyone who needs a gentler touch. In reality I think every clown should be able to match whatever that person in front of them wants and needs. Sometimes it’s comedy and big and loud and sometimes it is very soft and they just want to know someone cares.

A true clown accepts and meets their audience where they are. You need to be professional and respectful and assessable. It isn’t about me, it is all about you.
